Security of Our Connectable Products

We design and support connectable products used in the real world. This page explains how we approach security, how updates work, and how to report vulnerabilities.

Our Approach

  • No shared default passwords. Our products can be used without an account. Where a password is used (e.g., if you choose to register), it’s set by you we do not ship pre-installed passwords.
  • Pairing codes aren’t passwords. Bluetooth pairing codes and built-in device keys protect connections; they aren’t used for signing in.
  • Updates over Wi-Fi. Devices receive firmware and data/map updates via Wi-Fi; you can manually check for updates in Settings.

Vulnerability Disclosure (VDP)
If you think you’ve found a security issue, email security@mgigolf.com. You can report anonymously; we don’t require personal information to read your report.

Our Commitments

  • Acknowledgement: we’ll acknowledge receipt within 7 calendar days.
  • Status updates: we’ll provide periodic status updates until resolution (at least every 90 days or when there’s material progress).
  • This page and our VDP are public, in English, free to access, and don’t require you to submit personal information.

Security Updates & Support

  • How to get updates: Connect the device to Wi-Fi and follow on-screen prompts or check manually in Settings.
  • Defined Support Period (DSP): Each product lists a minimum security-update support period. We may extend a period, but we won’t shorten one that’s already published. The DSP is published in a way that’s clear, in English, free, and doesn’t request personal info.
  • End of support: After the DSP ends, we stop providing security updates. The device may continue to work, but risk can increase over time.

We may extend these periods; we will not shorten any period once published.

After the support period ends, devices may continue to operate but will no longer receive security updates.

Accounts & Passwords

  • Creating a password: Use a strong passphrase you don’t reuse elsewhere.
  • Storage & reset: We never ship shared default passwords. If a password exists, it’s set by you. If you forget it, use on-device recovery or contact Support.

Privacy
If you register an account on the device, we’ll ask for basic details (e.g., name and email) to set it up. See our Privacy Policy for how we collect, use and protect personal information.
