ENVIRONMENTAL, SOCIAL AND GOVERNANCE

Environmental, Social & Governance

At MGI, we’re always looking for practical ways to do things better, whether that means reducing waste, improving how we work, supporting our people or contributing to the communities around us.

We don’t claim to have all the answers. Our approach is to focus on practical, meaningful improvements that make sense for our business and to continue looking for opportunities to do better.

Environmental Responsibility

We take a practical approach to reducing our environmental impact and look for changes we can make across our Australian operations. Solar panels installed across our Melbourne office and warehouse help reduce the amount of electricity we draw from the grid.

Since 2022, we have removed polystyrene from the packaging of our electric golf buggies and reduced unnecessary plastic wrapping wherever practical. We also reuse cardboard boxes by converting them into protective packaging materials rather than disposing of them.

Used batteries are collected through a specialist battery disposal and recycling service to ensure they are handled appropriately. We have also reduced printing across the business by moving more of our processes online, including customer invoicing and other administrative functions.

Since 2020, our Australian business has purchased toilet paper, tissues and paper towels through Who Gives A Crap, which uses recycled or sustainably sourced materials and supports initiatives that improve access to clean water and sanitation.

Our People & Community

Our responsibilities extend beyond the environment. We want MGI to be a workplace where people feel respected, supported and included, while also contributing positively to the broader community.

Throughout the year, our team supports fundraising initiatives including Footy Colours Day and Australia’s Biggest Morning Tea. We also regularly donate MGI products to hospitals, charities, community organisations and fundraising events for use in raffles, silent auctions and charity golf days.

We are proud to have supported organisations including Feel the Magic, Myeloma Australia, STEPtember and TLC for Kids, each of which provides important support to individuals and families in our community.

Within MGI, our values: Responsibility, Honesty, Leadership, Respect, Resilience, Communication and Innovation guide how we work together, make decisions and interact with our customers, partners and wider community.

Governance & Responsible Business

Responsible business practices are an important part of how we operate. We recognise the importance of protecting company, employee and customer information. We work closely with our specialist IT providers and partners to maintain appropriate systems, security practices and safeguards.

We regularly review our policies, procedures and workplace practices to ensure they remain appropriate for our business, our people and the environment in which we operate. We also expect our people to conduct business responsibly, ethically and in accordance with our company values.

Looking Ahead

MGI has been in business for more than 30 years, and we know there will always be opportunities to improve. Our approach is to keep making practical changes where we can, remain open to new ideas and ensure the way we operate continues to reflect the kind of business we want MGI to be.

We see ESG as an ongoing responsibility rather than a finished project and we will continue to look for meaningful ways to improve over time.
